BUDDING young chefs donned their aprons and took to the kitchen for a masterclass with renowned chef Franco Taruschio.
Four pupils from West Monmouth School, Pontypool, and Abersychan School were among a handful to those chosen to join the Abergavenny-based chef as he taught them how to prepare and cook a range of dishes.
The initiative is a joint project funded and run by Trevethin, Blaenavon, St Cadoc’s and Penygarn Communities First Partnership and the two schools.
Richard Murphy, Communities First co-ordinator for Trevethin, said the project aims to help those pupils, aged between 14 and 16, who have an interest in hospitality and catering and want to pursue it as a career.
He said: "It’s a great opportunity and really boosts their confidence and gives them the skills they need."
"It has been such a success we hope to roll it out and involve more schools."
