A PLAQUE has been unveiled in memory of Afghanistan war hero Corporal Michael Thacker, who died while serving in the Royal Welsh.
Residents in Cwmbran raised money to donate a bench to Cpl Thacker’s family, as well having a plaque erected on a tree near his home.
Hundreds of people turned out on the green at Ellwood Path in Cwmbran on Wednesday for the unveiling of the plaque.
Generous residents had also raised money for a bench for Cpl Thacker’s mother, Alison, and the family to enjoy, as well as an engraved clock for his widow Catherine and matching engraved necklaces for her and their daughter Millie.
