PUPILS from Ty Sign Primary took part in a range of Paralympic sports such as seated volleyball and blind football.
The Sport Wales-funded event saw the Risca school’s 450 youngsters take part in a range of disabled and ablebodied sports, which were aimed at teaching them about the courage and determination of Paralympic athletes.
They took part in 15-minute taster sessions, donning blindfolds and playing football with a ball that had a bell inside.
PE co-ordinator Paul Roderick said the school wanted to inspire children to “get hooked on sport” and focused on the Paralympics as most of the attention this summer has been focused on the Olympics.
