THE Bishop of Monmouth, Rt Revd Dominic Walker, OGS, has admitted Peter Bennett to the Order of St Woolos in recognition of his long service to church bellringing.
Peter, 71, rang his first bells at the age of 14 and has rung at Newport Cathedral for many years, being at one time tower warden there.
He was honoured during a service at Newport Cathedral for his work teaching and encouraging others to keep Gwent’s church bells ringing Sunday by Sunday, and to mark national events such as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
