STAFF from a Newport legal firm have walked 16 miles to help a local charity take disabled children on holiday.

Staff from HBJ&W legal firm based at Clytha Park Road in Newport, which includes colleagues from Victorious Claims and SRB Legal, walked from Gilwern to Newport on June 30 to raise money for HCPT Group 99 - The Pilgrimage Trust The money raised will go to the charity's Newport group which organises an annual trip to Lourdes in France for local children with disabilities or special needs at no cost to the families.

The group of colleagues walked along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal before finishing at the Wave next to the Riverfront Theatre in Newport.

The former Gwent Dragons player Lloyd Burns also joined them at Fourteen Locks in High Cross for the final two miles of the walk.

Andrew Collingbourne from the HBJ&W Law Group said: "As we arrived back at our offices, it gave me immense satisfaction that we had achieved a worthwhile goal."

Kelsie Cantelo from the company added: "HBJ&W cannot emphasise enough the importance of helping charity funding. For instance, with our help HCPT Group 99 can make less fortunate children of Newport enjoy a fun filled holiday once a year, taking the weight off their parents and carers. If we can improve the quality of life for just a few children, then we know we are giving our contribution."

She said they would also like to raise enough money to organise a Christmas fair for the children.

It costs the charity £750 to take each child on the holiday and the law workers have already raised £460.
