AROUND 100 tractor enthusiasts are expected to attend a two-day event near Monmouth this weekend.

Organised by John Deere dealer Frank Sutton, the third 'Where Deere Friends Meet' gathering is being held on the family farm Parc Grace Dieu Farm at The Hendre.

Mr Sutton's family is celebrating 50 years in the farming industry and has sold John Deere Tractors for 45 years.

He said: "The event came about as a way of getting like-minded tractor fans to meet up for a social event and to see other tractors old and new.

This year, visitors are coming from as far as Leeds with their tractors to take part in the two-day event, which includes a five-mile road run (weather permitting) a Western-themed Cowboy cookout under the stars and breakfast, a competition for the best and oldest tractor as well as cowboy entertainment and horses.

Mr Sutton said the food will have a Western theme with a roasted Longhorn, chowder and beans and many will camp out on the farm.

The free-gathering starts at 10am on Saturday and Sunday and runs until late.
