AROUND 70 children from Belle Vue Children’s Nursery in Cwmbran took part in a toddle waddle dressed as superheroes to raise money for Barnado’s.

Children and 20 staff from the nursery dressed up and had their faces painted to take part in the walk.

They achieved three laps round the nursery’s car park and are hoping to raise between £200 and £300 in the next couple of weeks when all their sponsorship money is brought in.

The nursery’s deputy manager, Nicola Geoghegan, said: “Everyone had a great time and we hope to do as well as we have in previous years in raising money for the children’s charity.

“This week, we had some exciting news. We were awarded with a quality assurance award for Effective Early Leaning.

“The award focuses the staff on the well-being and involvement of the children and staff to ensure high levels of education and play.

“This has been a great end to a wonderful year as we also gained our bronze Investor in People award, five stars on the door for food hygiene, Basic Skills Quality Standard and now the Effective Early Learning quality assurance.

“The future also looks exciting as we are working towards healthy schools pre-school sustainability scheme and Eco Schools,”

she added.
