A PONTYPOOL teenager has learnt to drive thanks to a new project run by Melin Homes.
The not-for-profit landlord has offered the Stepping Stones driving project.
This is run with the help of Tai Calon to give unemployed people from Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen a helping hand to find work.
Hannah Baldwin, 18, from Pontnewynydd, joined the project after being referred by Careers Wales and is one of six people to have passed their driving test through the project.
Miss Baldwin gained a qualification in health and safety during her time on the project and is about to start a pre-care course to help her gain work as a home carer.
While working towards the qualification Miss Baldwin and others were also given the chance to learn to drive.
Paula Skyrme from Stepping Stones said: "Hannah was shy and a little nervous when she first started, but soon she began to come out of her shell and has learnt new skills which will help her when she finds employment."
