MORE than 300 people have joined a social network site page set up in memory of a Gwent man who died when his motorcycle crashed last Saturday morning.

The man has been named by Gwent Police as Allan John Woodland, who was from Crumlin.

The 45-year-old died when his blue Honda motorbike crashed on the A467 at Trinant Hill, near Llanhilleth, at around 5.45am on July 14.

Police have also released a tribute from Mr Woodland’s family: “Tragically Allan John Woodland was killed while riding his motorbike to work at 5.45am.

“Allan was a Bluebirds (Cardiff City) fan and he enjoyed socialising with his friends on his motorbike.

Allan will be truly missed by all of his family and friends.”

A tribute page on Facebook, called RIP Alan Woodland, was set up within hours of his death and has so far got 312 members.

Many of those who have left messages mention Mr Woodland’s kindness and happy nature, and his passionate support of Cardiff City football club.

Joanne Garnham wrote: “RIP Alan. Such a nice guy.

Always ready with a smile and kind words. My thoughts and love are with the whole family at this sad time.”

Chris Newton added: “Every day I still think I’m going to speak to you... it just won’t sink in. You left your mark on all of us and in your own special way.”

Dan Preece wrote: “Alan was a nice guy, always made an effort to come and have a chat and had a wicked smile.”

Gwent Police are continuing to investigate the crash, the cause of which remains unknown. There was no other vehicle involved.
