A CWMBRAN man appeared in court on Monday accused of sending an offensive message while posing as an Argus reporter.
Michael Bush, 46, of Thistle Court, Ty Canol, appeared at Cwmbran Magistrates Court charged with using a public communication network to send an offensive/indecent/obscene or menacing message.
The prosecution alleged that Mr Bush had telephoned PC Jason Blewitt at his home address claiming to be a reporter called Ian Evans from the South Wales Argus.
The prosecution said it was accepted that the phone belongs to Mr Bush but that there was no evidence he made the call. It was alleged the caller asked him what his wife would have thought about him beating someone up. The caller allegedly said: “You’ll get to know my name and my voice.”
Magistrates ruled there was no case to answer and that costs be covered by the state.
