A FUN day organised to raise money for a seven year old whose dream is to become a footballer was a great success Ethan Jolosa from Cwmbran was born nine weeks early, and at 18 months old was diagnosed with Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy.
He loves to play football for Cardiff City Cerebral Palsy Football Team and basketball for Cardiff Celts, but his condition means the muscles in his legs are extremely tight and painful. As a result he has to use a frame or a wheelchair.
His mum has launched a fundraising campaign to fund a pioneering surgery at Bristol's Frenchay Hospital that would change his life.
The operation and physiotherapy, that will relax the muscles in his legs, will cost £40,000.
The Welsh Government will not fund his operation, so it is up to his family to fundraise.
The event was held over two days at Fairwater House, Cwmbran on Saturday and Sunday and raised £550 for the appeal, with more expected to be handed in.
The event was organised by Ethan’s auntie, Dawn Dunstan and included a children’s disco, face painting, raffle, tug of war and refreshments.
She said: "Both of the days went really well and were well attended as luckily the weather was sunny.
"Ethan was there on Saturday and enjoyed the games with the other children. It was a fantastic day."
Nearly £2,000 had previously been raised and dozens have joined a Facebook Group called Ethan's Wish to Walk.
