PONTYPOOL Male Choir is stepping up its recruitment drive by highlighting the health benefits of singing.

Recruitment officer Mark Pitt said: “Singing is more than an enjoyable pastime, it is an aerobic activity that oxygenates the bloodstream and even when sitting, can exercise the muscle groups in the upper body.

“Singing can be a simple intervention to reduce the heart rate, blood pressure and stress levels.”

Regardless of your singing voice, the choir, which celebrates its 50th anniversary next year, will always give a warm welcome to new members.

The choir practises at the Congregational Church, Kemys Street, Griffithstown, every Tuesday at 7pm.
