TWO ex-Pengam pupils and workmates from Caerphilly borough won £1 million in Friday’s EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle draw.

Idris Tipper, 59 and Chris Edwards, 48 work at the Orangebox furniture factory in Hengoed and only met in March when Idris joined the company.

The pair aren't regular players of the lottery, but Chris suggested to Idris that they have a go and Chris put tenner on the EuroMillions draw.

Idris was at home cutting the lawn when he found out about the win while Chris was at his caravan in Tenby. He admitted he was "numb" after hearing about the win, but it "had sunk in yesterday, but after the press conference I feel numb again."

Chris is a big rugby and golf fan and plans to go on the Lions tour to Australia next year as well as fulfilling an ambition of pplaying on the 2010 course at the Celtic Manor.

Idris said he 'would sort his children out' but was unsure what else to spend it on.
