SUPPORTERS of the Hospice of the Valleys donned their walking boots yesterday to complete a charity challenge.

A charity walk took place along the Brecon and Monmouthshire canal and saw people of all ages taking part, many in memory of loved ones.

They included singer Les Price, 42, who completed the challenge in memory of his wife, who lost her battle with cancer last year.

The Argus previously reported that Mr Price came fifth in the charity’s Valleys Idol competition in 2009, and his performance of the Les Misèrables classic Bring him Home caught the eye of Zeuriah Price, 39, when it was posted on Hospice of the Valleys’ Facebook page.

The pair ended up getting married, but not long after Mrs Price was diagnosed with cancer of the bile duct, which spread to her liver, and she died last year.

Mr Price also performed at Llangynidr playing-fields following the walk. A choice of walks to Llangynidr were available on the day, including a 20-mile route from Goytre Wharf, ten miles from Govilon, eight miles from Gilwern, five miles from Llangattock and three miles from Llangynidr.

A party was then held at the playing-fields in the afternoon to celebrate the walkers’ success.
