Chance to visit Wales' historic sites free
3:40pm Tuesday 14th August 2012 in News
HISTORIC: Ruperra Castle
WALES’S most iconic buildings and unusual sites will welcome thousands of visitors as part of the annual Open Doors programme, which sees hundreds of attractions, events and activities open to visitors free throughout September.
Visitors can explore all types of the country’s fascinating buildings and sites, with 400 to discover.
Buildings and sites that are usually closed to the public, including a Grade II listed farm complex restored by Village Alive Trust in Monmouthshire, will be among the gems open.
It is organised by the Civic Trust for Wales and supported by Cadw.
This year visitors are being encouraged to share their Open Doors experience through a photography competition, supported by Cadw.
Some venues have limited spaces or require advance booking. Visit www.opendoorsdays.org.uk for full event listings, details of properties taking part and how to enter.
