A CWMBRAN pub has organised a weekend of events for charity in memory of a popular 20-year-old woman.

The Blinkin' Owl in Coed Eva will host four days of activities over the bank holiday weekend to remember Kirsty Allen and to raise money for the Children's Liver Disease Foundation.

Miss Allen was 20 when she died from the liver condition autoimmune hepatitis on August 27 last year.

Miss Allen, from Coed Eva, was well known in the community and had many friends.

The pub will host a Hawaiian-themed night on August 24 with fancy dress and a karaoke starting at 8pm.

The following day will see bands performing between 12pm and 6pm including The Playground Jokers from Caerleon and Back to November from Barry.

August 26 will have children's entertainment between 12pm and 5pm with a magic show, balloon modelling and face painting.

There will also be glitter tattoos, a bouncy castle and crafts for children.

Bank holiday Monday will mark the first anniversary of Miss Allen's death.

Activities that day will run between 12pm and 5pm and include a play bus with Minnie and Mickey Mouse, two bouncy castles, stalls, face painting, crafts a karaoke and a disco.

All of these events are free to attend but donations are encouraged for the charity.

A gig by the band No One Knows on the evening of August 25 will have an entry fee of £2 with this money also going to the charity.
