A YOUNG woman from Cwmbran will be taking part in her first beauty pageant today to raise funds for a cancer charity.
Jodie Emes, 23, will be entering the ‘Miss Natural Beauty’ pageant in aid of Tenovus Cancer Trust which is being held at the Celtic Manor in Newport at 7.30pm.
She will compete against 14 other women in a bid to win the position of ambassador for the Trust.
Jodie works as assistant manager at the Green House pub in Cwmbran and said: "It's the first time I have done anything for charity. I know what great work the charity do and wanted to support them. I never had dreams of being a model, I'm actually a little scared, but the thought of raising money is keeping me going."
In addition, Miss Emes will also conduct a sponsored 1,085m rock climb the height of Mount Snowdon at Boulders climbing centre in Cardiff on August 30. With a fear of heights, she is ready for the challenge and said: "It's all about overcoming your fear."
Jodie has three company sponsors including K&D Haulage, Doctor Squeegees' window cleaning company, and claim website, wefightanyclaim.com She has already raised £400 for the cause in just over two weeks.
