‘Part of Cwmcarn school could re-open’ - teaching union
2:18pm Tuesday 16th October 2012 in News
A TEACHING union official said he understood Cwmcarn High School could re-open to pupils if only part of the site is used.
NASUWT Wales Organiser Rex Phillips told the Argus that it was his understanding that education could continue at the site if only parts of the school built after 2000 were used.
Mr Phillips said this would also include the performing arts block and if the school was provided with 35 demountable units on the school fields.
He said: "It should not be beyond the wit and the will of the Caerphilly authority and the Welsh Government to pull out all the stops to make this happen as soon as possible."

It is very pleasing that, as a parent with all our children at the School, sensible pragmatism coupled with creative thinking is now starting to emerge to address all parents' prime concern/objective for our children: sustained quality education in a safe, stable and secure learning environment. I am pleased for all those involved with Cwmcarn School that positive moves are now being undertaken to ensure this takes place within the familiar environment that is unique to Cwmcarn School!
I am also pleased to learn that Mr Phillips is fully behind this pragmatic solution, and I look forward to further positive announcements with the aforementioned overriding objective firmly in mind.
