Chepstow woman spends £1000 on pet detectives to hunt for missing cat

WHEN Tanni the tortoiseshell cat went missing, her owner knew who to call.

Chepstow woman Liz Govett called in pet detectives. So far she has spent more than £1,000 on the search for her beloved nine-yearold pet, which went missing in late September.

Mrs Govett called Herefordbased Animal Search UK. The team of pet detectives is led by former police officer Tom Watkins, who has over 18 years of investigation experience.

The team is fully equipped with walkie-talkies, rescue traps, torches and police-style patrol vehicles. The company launched twelve years ago, and now has as many as 2,000 visitors a day to its free website, scanning the lost and found databases in the hope of being reunited with their pets.

The cat was last seen in her owner’s house in Thornwell on September 22, at 4pm.

Mrs Govett said: “Tanni is very much a house cat and it is very unlike her to go missing and has never done so in all her nine years.

“We have had three possible sightings in the area but unfortunately none of them turned out to be her.”

After Mrs Govett’s own search failed to find the pet, she paid for a search package that included leaflets and posters for just under £400 and for a two-man team to come to the area for £750.

Animal Search UK’s promise is that they will do all they can to leave no stone unturned in the search for Tanni.

Mr Watkins added: “We’ve made sure that we have as much background as possible before we commenced our search. We’ve checked details about Tanni’s normal routine, and her usual patterns of movement in the area. Our service combines systematic local enquiries, including door to door, with a thorough publicity campaign.”
