Chepstow-based OSP healthcare has been named as a finalist for the Canmol: Wales Marketing Awards, hosted annually by The Chartered Institute of Marketing.

The agency, which helps clients from the healthcare sector launch products and services, has landed a place in the final alongside some of Wales’ branding giants, joining the shortlist of 22 impressive campaigns from across Wales.

Showcasing the wealth of marketing talent that Wales has to offer, the list of finalists features campaigns from SMEs as well as some of Wales' most iconic brands – proving that excellent marketing can be achieved on any budget.

With a mix of sector-specific category awards on offer alongside the coveted titles of the ‘New Marketer’ – which is awarded to an industry newcomer – Canmol is a celebration of excellent business results achieved through innovative, creative and professional marketing.

Winners will be announced on November 6 at a ceremony at Cardiff City Stadium, with one brand also due to be chosen as the ‘Best of the Best’, securing themselves a place in the UK-wide CIM Marketing Excellence awards in April.

With 22 years’ experience in the life sciences industry, OSP Healthcare helps health, pharmaceutical and life sciences companies to launch and promote their products and services to a global marketplace.

The campaign provided strategic advice to support the launch of the ‘Life Science Hub’ in Cardiff Bay, which acts as a focal point for the sector in Wales, including academic, business, clinical and funding communities.

The Welsh Government tasked OSP with creating a brand identity for the Hub that would work bilingually across buildings, signage, print and electronic materials. Above all, it had to be instantly recognisable. The development of the Hub brand identity including an outstanding launch event which gained both national and international press coverage, helping communicate its unique vison.

One year on and the Life Sciences Hub has met all of its Year One objectives.

A panel of 11 business and marketing experts were responsible for judging the entries under the chairmanship of Dr Jonathan Deacon, South Wales Business School, University of South Wales and Trustee of CIM.

Dr Deacon said: “Each year I go into the judging process eager to see what sorts of things our Welsh marketers have been cooking up over the preceding 12 months, and each year I’m impressed by the creativity demonstrated in the entries.

“The level of talent in the industry is apparent from the quality featured in this year’s list of finalists. I congratulate all those who’ve made the list and look forward to rewarding them further come November.”
