Most of us spend a lot of time sitting at a desk during the working day. And many of us indulge in a cup of tea or coffee with a snack at least once a day.
Business Argus asked local business people to let us know which snack they tend to choose when it comes to elevenses.
Geraint Yeo, general manager, David Spear Commercials, Tredegar
I can honestly say the good old Jaffa Cake is the preferred choice here at David Spear Commercials with our tea & coffee.
A simple gesture as an unlimited supply of tea, coffee and milk helps the whole team function on a day to day basis keeping morale high.
The same gesture is given to all our customers but we do tend to hide the Jaffa Cakes!

In the H&T office we are partial to various chocolate covered biscuits with our teas and coffees, especially at Christmas time. My favourite has always been the classic Bourbon biscuit. However to balance it out, amongst the athletes between us, we do have an office fruit bowl filled with apples, bananas and grapes.
David Barnes, owner, David Barnes Public Relations, Newport
Delicious PG Tips tea in my Stewie Griffin mug and a Tunnocks caramel wafer - is there a more perfect combination? When I get stuck with a news release or some social media, I just pop downstairs to our very well appointed and groovy kitchen and break out area here at The Estates Office in Gold Tops to chew the fat and make a cup of tea. Hey presto! Problem solved!
Gemma Carter, community/events fundraiser (Monmouthshire/Newport), St David's Hospice Care
One of my favourite things to talk about… tea and cake! I have attached a photo of today’s tea break. My snack of choice today is a chocolate cupcake, its usually a chocolate bourbon biscuit or two (or three) but we had a special afternoon cupcake treat today. I love anything with chocolate on if you haven’t noticed! We are very well looked after here at St David’s Hospice Care, the biscuit jar is filled regularly and I’ve never known the teabags to run out. Geraint Wilson is the number one tea maker in our office, we would be lost and thirsty without him. If there was an award for best cup of tea he would definitely win! Not sure what my number one snack will be next week, will have to wait and see what’s in the jar.
Dan Smith, managing director, M4 Property Consultants, Newport
At M4 Property Consultants we have coffee drinkers, tea drinkers, those that drink herbal teas, water drinkers and everyone enjoys different snacks with their beverages. Busy days in the office, property viewings or client meetings all require a balance of sweet treats and energy fuelling food to get us through. It’s good to mix things up to differentiate one day from the next. The past few days have featured suspicious looking coconut energy truffles, a supposedly healthy alternative. Whilst definitely providing a filling sense of health and wellbeing, we still found ourselves washing them down with numerous (essential) rounds of kettle boiling.
