If you had to be stuck in a lift with someone, who would it be and why?

President Obama – he is a refreshing change on the world stage of politics and he has a lot to offer.

What is your biggest fear?

The economy in this country and how we are going to get out of this hole? I fear for young people getting jobs.

Do you have any superstitions?

None at all.

If you could have only one song on your iPod, what would it be and why?

My favourite song, Jimi Hendrix’s ballad Little Wing.

What’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought, not including property?

My guitar. I’m in a blues band and paid £600 for a Fender Stratocaster.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

People write your successes in sand and your failures in stone – it’s something my father said and keeps me on my toes.

What’s your indulgence?

I don’t drink or smoke, so it would probably be walking in the countryside for quiet, calm periods. Also, my guitar helps take me away from things.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why?

I’m always trying to be more patient. I can be a little impatient and have to realise that things can’t happen overnight.

Where are you next going on holiday?

Probably somewhere in the UK. But, it depends on the British weather, if we have a summer or not.
