HEALTH CENTRE: Dr Ahmed and Dr Khan of Tredegar Health Centre have notified the Health Board that they wish to resign their General Medical Services Contract on March 31.

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board will run the practice in Tredegar from April 1 for the first six months so that GP services can be accessed as normal for their patients.

Dr Ahmed and Dr Khan will remain as GP`s employed by the Health Board working with the remaining team at Tredegar Health Centre.

The Health Board, Gwent Local Medical Commitee and The Aneurin Bevan Committee Health Council are considering all options available for the future of GP services for the patients of Tredegar Health Centre following the initial six month period that the Health Board will be managing the practice.

“Community Health Councils in Wales (CHC`s) are the independent statutory organisations which represent the interests of patients and the public in the National Health Service throughout Wales.”

CHC`s want to ask the question “What could the NHS do better to support people as well as their families and carers living with dementia?” The question will be asked all over Wales in the form of a `One Simple Thing` that can be done for improvements in the NHS service and they will be out over the next two weeks addressing people whose lives have been affected by dementia. They are hoping to present a true picture of what support and help dementia sufferer's, family members and carer`s need.

The Welsh Government wish to use the answers and responses for their plans to create a Dementia Strategy for Wales. You can have your say - text CHC to 62277, e-mail yourvoice@waleschc.org.uk, call 01248 679284 chose option 4 or visit wales.nhs.uk/siteplus/899/home.
