UPCOMING EVENTS: The next art exhibition at the Fourteen Locks Canal Centre, Newport, is by our local artist Pauline Price and will comprise of entirely canal related paintings and starts on June. 3.
The new craft display will include work from Rhiannon James textiles creating one-off pieces from natural wool, collected, recycled and vintage fabrics. The techniques are hand drawn illustration, hand embroidery and appliqué. Inspiration comes from the canals, welsh countryside, culture, hiraeth, nostalgia and childhood memories.
Our next walk will be on Saturday June 17 and will go through Bassaleg and Rhiwderin towards Machen Mountain incorporating the beautiful Sirhowy Valley walk. Please go into our events page on our website for full details on fourteenlocks.mbact.org.uk
On June 18 there will be a special Father’s Day music extravaganza and barbecue. Local talented musicians will be playing live in support of the Monmouthshire, Brecon and Abergavenny Canals Trust.
Performing on the day will be Joe Kelly, Bryony Sier, Ian Palmer, Ellie Mccue, Broken Karma, Howard Brook, Ruby Kelly, 3mph and Stacey Marie.
In addition to the homemade delights of the cafe, they will also be firing up the barbecue to include special Fathers day meal deals!
