WALKING GROUP: Here is a list of the Ebbw Fach Trekkers activities:

  •  On June 20, there were 22 attenders on the seven miles walk from Penarth to Lavenock point and Cosmeston. The walk, which was led by Steve Key, was conducted at an easy pace suitable for the 30 degrees temperature.
  •  June 24 was a wet and foggy day, but there were 14 happy trekkers on the first section of the 220 miles walk from the source of the river Severn to the sea, starting at the highlands of Plynlimon near Llanidloes.
  •  June 27 was a nice day for a walk, cloudy and bright with little wind. There were 21 members on the circular walk from Hafodyrynys to Pantygasseg and Tirpentwys nature reserve , led by Steve Davies.
  • On July 4, there were 21 walkers on the 9 miles round trip up Cwm Llwydrew to St Illtyd’s Church on to Cwm Nantddu, then to the old mining site at Llanerch, returning via Blaen Serchan and Cwmnantygroes to Ty Ebbw Fach for refreshments.
  • July 8 involved eight walkers on a hot and hard 10 miles tour of the Three Pens -  Pen Gloch-y- Pibwr, Pen Allt-Mawr and Pen Carrig-Catch.
  • On July 11 there was a low turn out yesterday the weather forecast being the decider for many. Nevertheless, it was a pleasant, though damp, four mile stroll around Parc Cwm Darran. The group welcomed a recently retired new walker who has followed the group exploits in Grassroots. He is interested in local history so the group pointed him in the direction of another group that specialises in this to help him keep busy.

Many thanks to Ken Bayliss for keeping us informed of the group’s adventures.
