CONCERT: On July 8 an appreciative audience inside the Caldicot Methodist Church were treated to a performance by the Serenata Ladies Choir.

This is a choir with a well deserved and rapidly growing reputation for their talent and the sheer joy of their music. This performance was no exception to that rule. Laying down a marker with their first number Life in a Northern Town there was absolutely no doubt that was going to be a high quality performance.

They performed a diverse range of numbers, doing justice to them all. Under the direction of their musical director Fiona Bryant, and with the support of accompanist Barbra Davies, these talented ladies will tackle anything.

From Irish ballads, to an Abba medley, to some smash hits from the shows; each number was an absolute joy. Some of the very best were their versions of Danny Boy, Shake it out, You Raise Me Up and Hallelujah.

Two local youngsters did their reputations no harm either producing top draw solo’s. Watch out for Bethan Norman and Angharad Elson I suspect you may be reading a lot about them in the future.

All in all this was a fantastic night of music and all done for a great cause. Local rescue hero’s SARA benefitted by over £400 from the ladies efforts. Nothing summed up better just how well this concert went than the beaming smile on the face of the choirs proud chairwoman Rhiannon Zhuravylova.

Well done ladies. Great job Fiona. Keep up the great work.
