TRIP: One a recent visit to Newquay in Cornwall on July 1, Pontypool Male Choir made a very enjoyable weekend visit under our young musical director Mathew Harrison and also our young accompanist.

We sang a joyful mix of favourites both modern and traditional at St Michael’s Church to a capacity audience.

Our solo artist for the evening was a very young member of our choir aged 16 years, Travis Smith, who sang Empty Chairs and Empty Tables and Anthem.

We are very fortunate to have such a gifted soloist and a gifted musical director.

The MD of Newquay Choir was very complimentary on Mathews performance with the choir.

To end the evenings performance the two choirs sang Monte Christo together and had a very enthusiastic response.

A very enjoyable evening was brought to an end with an excellent buffet.

If there is anyone interested in becoming a member of a choir you can be assured of a very warm welcome at Panteg House on Tuesday evening from 7pm to 9pm.

The choir is lottery funded.
