ADMITTED GUILT: Michael Bisi, 60, of Ebbw Vale was involved in a collision with grandfather Paul Jones on the A472 Hafodyrynys Road in Crumlin on August 12
A DRIVER today admitted causing the death of a cyclist while at the wheel of Mercedes car.
Michael Bisi, 60, of Ebbw Vale was involved in a collision with grandfather Paul Jones on the A472 Hafodyrynys Road in Crumlin on August 12, a court heard.
The 60-year-old cyclist from Markham was taken to Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport but died the same day.
Bisi left the scene of the accident having given another driver a note including his name, which read "Bist" and a phone number with a missing digit, Cardiff Crown Court heard today.
Police needed 12 hours to get in touch with the vehicle fitter, prosecutor John Lloyd said.
Bisi, of Western Terrace, Ebbw Vale, pleaded guilty to one count of causing death by careless driving.
Defence barrister, Jeffrey Jones, said his client was "conscious of the sadness behind the case" and did not wish to delay it.
Judge Eleri Rees adjourned the hearing to February 5 so that a pre-sentence report may be produced.
She told the court: "No doubt he attracts full credit for indicating the plea.
"Leaving the scene is something that the court will consider as an aggravating feature."
Judge Rees gave Bisi an interim driving ban and bailed him on condition he lives and sleeps at his home address.
