WORK is continuing in Newport city centre to ready the ground for the new £90 million Friars Walk shopping development, being created on the old bus station site.
Debenhams is set to be the anchor store and Next, Top Shop, Cineworld, Nandos and Cosmo are among the businesses to have already committed to the scheme.
The ground-breaking ceremony at the site took place on April 15 and diggers are still on site clearing away debris from the demolished six-storey car park, which was demolished in January.
Paul Sargent, of Queensberry Real Estate, said they were working with Cuddy, and have appointed Bowmer and Kirkland, based in Derbyshire, as the preferred contractor to carry out the building work.
Friars Walk is due to be open by November 2015.
