NEW LOOK and Gourmet Burger Kitchen are the latest big names to have signed up to Newport's Friars Walk city centre development.
The retailers will join Debenham's, Cineworld, Topshop, Next, Prezzo, Nando's, Frankie and Benny's, Cosmo and Chiquitos, who have all committed to the scheme ahead of it opening in November of next year.
Work is continuing in Newport city centre to ready the ground for the new £90 million Friars Walk shopping development, on the old bus station site.
The ground-breaking ceremony, led by Mayor of Newport, Councillor Cliff Suller, took place at the 390,000 sq ft retail and leisure development site in April and diggers are still on site clearing away debris from the former six-storey car park, which was demolished in January.
The scheme, which has been backed by a £90m loan supported by Newport City Council, will create 650 jobs during its construction phase and about 1,100 jobs once it is complete.
