KIND-HEARTED staff at a Newport bank have come together to help their community this month, as part of a new initiative.

Six staff at the Royal Bank of Scotland Newport branch have been working at St Patrick’s Junior School, in Newport, on September 15 and 18, to help them with their garden, as well as carrying out various other tasks around the school.

Ed Willis, Hazel Palmer, Aimee Willcock and Lisa Phelps, coordinated by Branch Manager Kate Steele, took part in gardening and painting tasks which included raising the flower bed and vegetable patch.

This comes as part of a RBS community initiative, which sees staff members take time out, for two days a year, to help with community projects.

Mr Willis, customer adviser at RBS, said: “The staff involved are really proud of the work we have already done at St Patrick’s school, and have received an email from the head, Mr Dunford, giving his appreciation and thanks from the work done on Monday, September 15.

“We will be finishing off the work on Thursday, September 18.

“RBS allows each member of staff two days per year out of the office, to help on projects in the community and charity work, and this year we at RBS in Newport decided to support the new nursery at St Patrick’s Junior School, amongst others.”

“Robert Price LTD were also good enough to provide significant materials for the project free of charge, and really welcomed the opportunity to help.”
