CORONATION Street star Samia Ghadie is set to ramp up the festive fervour in Brynmawr this evening.
The actress – who plays Maria Connor in the ITV soap – will turn on the Christmas lights in the Blaenau Gwent town.
The annual event has been organised by Brynmawr Town Centre Partnership.
The group is said to have been fundraising all year round – from efforts at its charity shop to contributions from local traders, the town council, the three borough members, and the town-centre partnership.
A procession will start from Market Square at 6.30pm. There will be a choir and dance troupe, the ATC marching band, and a variety of stalls.
A small fireworks display will follow.
