COLEG Gwent students and pupils from a Crosskeys primary school last week welcomed Wales' number one ranked badminton player.
Welsh International and Commonwealth player Carissa Turner spoke to pupils from Waunfawr Primary School's sports council and students from Coleg Gwent.
Two times Ladies Singles and Doubles National Champ Ms Turner also works as an ambassador promoting the Commonwealth Games and Team Wales in schools.
Victoria English, Independent Living Skills lecturer at Coleg Gwent, said: "We are thrilled to have participated in the Commonwealth Wales schools tour. It’s amazing for our students to have met Wales number one badminton player."
25-year-old Ms Turner was selected for the Welsh squad at just age 13 and now trains with the Welsh team daily. She played in both the 2010 and the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Speaking to the young people last week
The athlete shared her experiences of being a commonwealth athlete. A spokesperson for Coleg Gwent said the students and younger pupils were "excited about her visit and were eager to ask lots of questions".
