A CWMBRAN clothes store which stocks the colour-changing dress which became an overnight internet sensation has had customers flocking to see the real life version.

Roman Originals clothes shop in Cwmbran Shopping Centre has had the blue and black dress in stock for around six weeks before it went viral on the internet last week.

The dress was originally posted on website Tumblr between family and friends who were debating whether the colour was white and gold or blue and black.

The post was soon shared worldwide millions of times, with US singer Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West getting involved.

Claire Wakeham, manager of Roman in Cwmbran, said: “Yesterday morning my son came down and said to me, ‘Mum, don’t you have this dress in your shop but you’ve got it in blue and black?

“And I looked at the picture and said, ‘But this is blue and black.’ He said, ‘no, it’s cream and gold’.

“When we came into work we had a note from head office which said we have had amazing, overnight worldwide coverage and that one member of the team has to wear the dress throughout the day and we have to put it in the shop windows.”

Roman Originals has 150 stores across the UK but just four in South Wales in Cwmbran, Abergavenny, Ebbw Vale and Bridgend.

Ms Wakeham wore the dress yesterday and today and has had customers visiting the shop to take photos.

She said: “I had people taking photos in the shop and holding it up to different lights to see if it changed colour.”
