THE Celtic Manor Resort has revealed its name for the Hilton Hotel in Newport.

It has also been announced that Matthew Barnby will take over as hotel manager of the Coldra Court Hotel by Celtic Manor when the resort takes over the 148-bedroom property currently trading as Hilton Newport, on March 31 2016.

Mr Barnby will oversee the operational management of the newly renamed hotel, leading the existing team which will remain in place following the transition to Celtic Manor’s ownership.

Mr Barnby has worked at the Celtic Manor Resort for 13 years and been involved in the management of events, golf, food and beverage, conference and banqueting, and most recently as part of the rooms management team.

He said: “I am really looking forward to the challenge of managing the Coldra Court Hotel. The hotel has a strong reputation for hosting weddings and business events, as well as welcoming leisure guests, and we want to build on those qualities and improve and invest in both the property and the team.

“I feel I have learned a great deal about all aspects of hotel management during my time at Celtic Manor and I am looking forward to bringing this knowledge to my management of Coldra Court.”

The Celtic Manor Operations Director Matthew Lewis said: “The Coldra Court Hotel by Celtic Manor is an exciting development for us and the additional bedrooms will be very welcome as we keep up with a growing conference and leisure market across the resort.

“Families and leisure guests will benefit from access to all the activities and restaurants at the main Celtic Manor Resort as well as the facilities within Coldra Court.”

In addition to its 148 guest bedrooms, Coldra Court will house Springs Health Club with swimming pool, spa bath and fitness room, Seasons Restaurant, and three versatile conference and banqueting rooms – the Tintern, the Wentwood and the Castleton.
