FIREFIGHTERS were verbally abused by youths in Newport last night, as they dealt with a deliberate rubbish fire in the Duffryn area of the city.
The fire was reported at Partridge Way, Duffryn, shortly before 11pm.
Earlier in the evening a fire crew from Newport's Duffryn station put out a fire that had been started deliberately in Duffryn Woods. That incident was reported shortly before 6.30pm.
And rubbish was set on fire deliberately in a car park near the Castle Bingo premises on Usk Way, Newport.
That incident, reported shortly after 11pm, was dealt with by firefighters from the city's Maindee station.
