A GUITAR signed by the Manic Street Preachers will be auctioned as part of Newport’s Record Store Day celebrations next month.

On Saturday, April 22, the city will be flooded with live music to raise money for Velindre Cancer Centre.

The event, hosted by Newport Now, will feature events at Newport record store Diverse Music, including a charity auction.

The main prize - a guitar signed by Blackwood band Manic Street Preachers - will be on offer on the day.

Manics drummer Sean Moore, visiting the Newport record shop today, backed the Record Store Day celebrations.

“If only Record Store Day could be everyday,” he said. “The beating heart of every true music fan where real music truly comes to life, only on vinyl (and) brought to you with passion, which is how we discovered the magical qualities of natural analogue sound.”

Tickets for Record Store Day are available from Diverse Music or Riverfront Theatre Box Office: 01633656679.
