A POPULAR walking festival will return next month for its 13th year.

The Wales Valleys Walking Festival runs from September 3 to 23 and will feature 12 walks based on the theme of legendary. The first walk of the festival in Blaenau Gwent takes place on September 6 and will follow in Aneurin Bevan’s footsteps around the village of Trefil.

On September 9, walkers will climb up Ebbw Fawr to explore the Dark Age landscape of Y Domen Fawr and Cefn Man Moel.

Cllr Dai Davies, Blaenau Gwent council’s executive member for regeneration and economic development, said: “It is great to see this festival going from strength to strength.

“This a fine way to stay fit and active and find out about our heritage along the way.”
