ROAD closures will be in place on the Severn Bridge today as a popular charity road race returns.

Thousands of runners have signed up for the Severn Bridge 10k and half-marathon in support of St David’s Hospice and childhood bereavement charity Winston’s Wish.

Both races, organised by Rogue Runs, start on the Western (Chepstow) end of the M48 and cross the Severn Bridge.

The bridge will be closed between 8am and 11.30am.

The half marathon event will start at 9am while the 10k event – new for 2017 – will start at 9.45am.

The races start and finish on the Chepstow side of the bridge, below J2 at the M48 and drivers are advised to avoid the "busy" area.

Car parking is free, is less than five minutes walk from Race HQ and will be signed from the motorway.
