A NURSE has won two major awards at a national awards ceremony.

Tanya Strange works as divisional nurse primary care and networks at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

She was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Innovation in Nursing Award at the Royal College of Nursing Wales Nurse of the Year Awards on November 15.

She said: “It was wonderful and to listen to inspirational things nurses are doing across Wales, it was heartwarming.

“I feel very humbled, especially by the Lifetime Achievement Award, but I still have so much to do.

She added: “The innovation award I won for was for work on loneliness and it was fantastic that the work is getting recognised this way.

“Loneliness is a public health issue and it’s a growing epidemic.”

The 56-year-old was also awarded the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Award for Outstanding Service from The Queen’s Nursing Institute in October, which she received at a ceremony in London.

The Wales awards, which took place in Cardiff, were presented by TV personality Jason Mohammed.
