A NEWPORT chef was announced as the regional Chef of the Year winner at catering awards this weekend.
On November 19, 2017, Bangladesh Caterers Association (BCA) announced winners of its Chef of the Year Awards; recognising 11 outstanding and talented chefs - including Kazi Jehangir Ahmed from Hatti Indian Cuisine restaurant in Newport who won the highly coveted regional Chef of the Year award.
The event was held at the Park Plaza Hotel Westminster and this year’s theme was - BCA: Sourcing Britain’s Love for Curry Since 1960.
The 11 winning chefs won their awards for their innovation, presentation of food, hygiene standards and customer service; and had to compete with thousands of entrants.
The competing chefs were short-listed to 47 finalists who participated in an exciting ‘live-cook off’ in October, held at Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College.
From this ‘live cook off’, the winners were then chosen.
