A WARNING has been issued for high tides in Tintern over the coming days.

Monmouthshire County Council will be closing parts of the A465 through the village tonight, Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

The road will be closed at its north end, at the Trelleck Road junction, and at its southern end at Royal George junction.

Closures were in effect this morning between 7.45am and 8.15am, and will return between 8.10pm and 8.40pm tonight.

They will return on Tuesday between 8.30am and 9am and 8.50pm to 9.20pm, and on Wednesday from 9.15am til 9.45am.

The council website says that the closure times are stimated based on forecasted tide times.

A statement adds: "Natural Resources Wales will be monitoring the situation and issuing flood warnings as necessary.

"Road closures will only be temporary and only when tidal water actually overflows onto the highway.  The road will reopen as soon as the water has receded from the highway."
