EMERGENCY services were called a Newport car park following a crash.

Sally Wallis was driving into the car park at the time.

She said: "My husband and I were going to ASDA at about 12.45pm and an ambulance went past us and into ASDA car park.

"As we entered the carpark there were police vans and cars, and they were were blocking access and we were directed by an officer in a police van to leave the car park.

"I have learned that the Wales Air Ambulance landed on one of the pitches at Pill Park, at approximately 12.30pm." 

A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said: "At 11.36am on Friday, December 8 a road traffic collision took place on Lower Dock Street in the Pillgwenlly area of Newport.

"The collision involved a car and a van."

"Emergency services were called but we are unaware of any injuries."
