A FIRE broke out at St Mellons Golf Club on Friday morning.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to the blaze at 9.41am and six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building with a hose reel and safety jet to extinguish the fire.
Pressure ventilation was also used to clear the smoke.
No-one was seriously hurt in the fire, but two people were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
A spokesman for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said it is believed the fire was due to an electrical fault and is being treated as accidental.
The golf course remained open over the weekend but the clubhouse was closed.
Club members were unable to give any information as to the circumstances surrounding the fire, where exactly it started or how badly damaged the clubhouse was.
It is not known when the clubhouse will be reopened to members of the public.
The club was first opened in 1936 and the clubhouse itself has a bar and function facilities.
