A NEWPORT teenager was arrested by police tonight, in connection with the serious sexual assault near a city nightclub at the weekend.
Gwent Police have arrested a 17-year-old man as part of their investigations into the assault of a 22-year-old woman in the early hours of Saturday.
The woman told police she was approached outside the Fire and Ice nightclub in the city by a man who later attacked her.
Officers now believe the incident happened in the Bailey Street area, a short distance away from the club.
The victim is continuing to receive support from specialist officers.
Anyone who might have seen any suspicious activity in the Bailey Street area between 3am and 5am on Saturday morning is asked to contact police on 101 or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
