DETECTIVES investigating the death of a Polish woman in Newport almost two years ago, arrested a man on suspicion of murder yesterday.
Aleksandra Lipska, nee Kaczmarska, 27, was found dead with a stab wound to her chest at her home in Dewstow Street, LIiswerry at around 3am on May 13, 2008.
A 27-year-old man from the Cardiff area was arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday morning and was taken to Ystrad Mynach Police Station for questioning.
In the days following the discovery of Mrs Lipska’s body, a 25-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested in connection with her death, but later released without charge.
Former colleagues at the Pick Up and Press laundrette, Cardiff Road, Maesglas, where Mrs Lipska worked before her death, held a collection in her memory to send back to her family in Poland.
Detective Superintendent Paul Griffiths said; “This investigation has been ongoing for nearly two years and I am appealing to anyone not previously approached by police who has any information with regards to Aleksandra’s death to come forward.”
