TINTERN'S Jubilee Committee started off their celebrations at the weekend by racing 1,000 ducks across the river Wye.

The ducks were tipped into the river from Brockweir Bridge with the race ending opposite the Rose and Crown in Tintern.

There were 12 prize winners in total including a first prize of £150.

Around £500 was raised which will go towards the committee's big Jubilee celebration on Monday at the Leytons Field near Tintern Abbey.

The celebration will include a traditional children's tea party and fashion show.
