AROUND 200 fundraisers braved heavy rain on Friday night to take part in St David's Foundation Hospice Care's Midnight Stars Walk.
The event, which started at Cwmbran Stadium at 11pm, saw many walkers don fancy dress to complete an eight-mile circuit into the early hours of Saturday.
Torfaen mayor Cllr Wayne Tomlinson was there with BBC news presenter Sian Lloyd to cheer on men for the first time in the previously women-only challenge.
Successful participants enjoyed a well-deserved bacon roll at the end.
Supporters including Lyn Iliffe wrote on the charity's Facebook page: "The bacon roll was amazing Ð well worth walking eight miles for. What a brilliant event, so well organised, really pleased to have taken part and be able to raise funds for such a deserving case."
Paul Hamer wrote: "You all did fab, so proud to be part of a great charity, and yes the bacon butty was great."
Funds, which are still being totted up, will help the Newport-based charity continue its work providing palliative care for people with terminal illnesses in Gwent.
