Anxious ode is top Caerleon festival comic verse

A RETIRED physics lecturer has won the first All Wales Comic Verse competition in the Caerleon Festival.
Mike Greenhough, 63, from Cardiff, won with his poem Mounting Anxiety, inspired by The Sound of Music’s song My Favourite Things.
The poem reads: “Fraulein Maria reveals when she sings, only a few of her favourite things. Is the tip of the iceberg all she admits, has she carefully censored the spicier things?”
Mr Greenhough won the £500 first prize at the competition at the Priory Hotel. Nina Beake, from Wrexham, came second and John Summers, from Swansea, came third.
