Please turn off all of these irritating advertising pop ups. Everytime I try to read the news, the article is covered up by either school advertisements or gym membership.
It does not inspire me to buy anything, it doesn't even apply to me. It only annoys me to the point that i'll stop looking at the South Wales Argus. I appreciate that you need to sell advertising space to pay for this facility but please do find another way of making it available to readers.

You can set up your system to block adverts, it is what I do ! I also block facebook and twitter on my systems. Ad/social site free viewing jut takes a bit of thought, a number of software areas will provide blocking free as well, you don't HAVE to put up with it. Just list them spam or **** (!) and they are blocked straight away lol....

Totally agree with you. Also the other anoying thing with the South Wales Argus website is sometimes the page needs to recover or is not responding. Nothing wrong with my computer as the same happens when using a different computer in another part of our sold called City.

Never mind 'pop-ups', the only relevant pop-ups here might well be lip-sticks and mobile phone lids. ( only kidding, btw, there's nothing wrong with women drivers. Nothing. ) Build a new motorway etc. etc.

Agree with both of you. These are totally irrelevant to most people and very annoying. Please sort it Argus or risk people not bothering with your website. I too have the iPad issue.

The quicker we make cars like dodgems the better, then at least we won't get held up in jams!! Only trouble is they'ld be limited to 5 mph!!

Maryjj I was going to write an email that would have been very close to this wording. I usually use iPad or iPhone both have issues with touching the close pop up button with out enlarging, if one enlarges one runs the danger of opening the darn thing.

don't forget the millions spent on the M4 around Newport to create a 'Managed system' taking the form of enforced reduced speed limits when busy or at peak times for example - designed to prevent incidents like these - how successful!

Couldn't believe that someone has mentioned the pop ups, as I was clicking ont the story the Gym ad poped up, nightmare, I don't look at web site that often now for that reason. Back to the headline, I use that stretch of the M4 every morning and can't believe the speed of the lorries, I stay in the inside lane when it's really bad and you end up with lorries in the front/back and speeding past, all creating bad spray and you can,t see what's happening.

As I understand it the idea is to 'enforce' the temporary speed limits by recording number plates & time taken between the gantries however I haven't heared that there are speed cameras in operation when the restrictions are in use - would be interesting to know this whether this is the case or people are getting wise.

I agree - lorries what about 'white vans' these seem to be excempt from any speed limit! the problem is you get tangled up with them because of the restriction making it more dangerous .

To Maryjj,

" It only annoys me to the point that i'll stop looking at the South Wales Argus."

I already have. I've got better things to do with my reading time, looking at the sites of other newspapers, than to continually fight this problem.

The main problem on the M4 is not the lorries, or at least not ALL of them, but the car driver (and motorcyclists) swerving from lane to lane, often without warning! If they attempted their test again, they'd most certainly fail!.
As for adverts causing a nuisance, I suggest that the user gets into the preferences for the browser they are using, look up 'content' and click on 'block pop-ups'. It works on Firefox, safari and Internet Explorer, so I would assume it does so on others as well. I use this and it works OK for me.
Best of luck Guys & Gals.
